The inadvertent expat blogger behind Stone Harbor Forge

Hey, I'm Henry
I work as a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in London, United Kingdom.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Began
Moving to United Kingdom wasn’t part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far larger.
The opening weeks were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, new expectations. Daily tasks felt more intricate than they should.
The Adaptation Phase
There was culture shock, ambiguity, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines formed. We found places that fit us, met other families, and began creating a sense of stability.
Why I Built Stone Harbor Forge
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What’s missing is an honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in United Kingdom.
What This Site Represents (And What It Does Not)
This site IS:
- Practical know-how from living in United Kingdom
- Centered on family life and everyday experiences
- Updated only when a real change occurs
This site ISN'T:
- An official tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in United Kingdom goes on, as does our learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in London or anywhere in United Kingdom, feel free to get in touch.
Best regards,
Henry
